Data Protection
Last updated: 14 September 2026
This Data Protection notice explains what personal information Binami collects, why we use it, how we protect it, and the choices you have. We aim to handle data carefully and only for clear purposes related to operating the Platform.
1. Information we collect
- Account data — name, email, and security-related details you provide at registration or later.
- Transaction data — deposits, purchases, balances, and status of requests needed to run your wallet.
- Payment references — limited details from mobile money or bank payments required to match funds (we do not store full card PANs on the Platform where a processor handles them).
- Technical data — device type, approximate location derived from IP, and logs used for security and reliability.
- Support messages — content you send when contacting us.
2. How we use information
- Create and secure your account
- Process buys, deposits, and related notifications
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorised access
- Meet legal and regulatory obligations where they apply
- Improve product clarity and customer support
3. Legal bases (where applicable)
We process data to perform our contract with you, to comply with legal duties, for legitimate interests such as security and service improvement (balanced against your rights), and with your consent where required (for example certain marketing preferences).
4. Sharing
We may share limited data with payment partners to complete a transaction, with service providers who help us operate the Platform under confidentiality obligations, or with authorities when required by law. We do not sell your personal information.
5. Retention
We keep account and transaction records for as long as your account is active and for a further period required for legal, tax, dispute, or security purposes. Support tickets may be retained to improve service quality.
6. Security measures
We use technical and organisational measures such as encrypted transport, access controls, and monitoring for suspicious activity. No online service is perfectly secure; you should also protect your password and devices.
7. Your rights
Depending on your country, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Contact Support to make a request. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
8. International transfers
Infrastructure and partners may process data in more than one country. Where we transfer personal data, we take steps intended to keep an appropriate level of protection.
9. Children
Binami is not directed at children under 18. If you believe a minor has provided data, contact Support so we can take appropriate action.
10. Updates
We may update this notice as our practices or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
